Maple Armor is committed to investing in the next generation of fire alarm technicians, and that commitment takes concrete form every year through our scholarship program at Seneca College in Toronto. In partnership with the school's School of Fire Protection Engineering Technology, the Maple Armor Scholarship recognizes an outstanding student enrolled in the Fire Protection Engineering Technician diploma and helps offset the cost of their studies.
Why This Matters to Us
The fire alarm industry is a people business. Panels and detectors only do their job when they are designed, installed, commissioned, and maintained by technicians who understand the physics of fire, the logic of the code, and the hands-on realities of pulling wire in the field. Skilled technicians are the link between great hardware and real-world safety, and Canada needs more of them every year.
Seneca's Fire Protection Engineering Technology program has a long-standing reputation for producing exactly that kind of graduate. By sponsoring a student each year, Maple Armor reinforces the pipeline and signals to prospective students that there is industry interest in their success from the moment they begin their studies.
The 2023 Recipient
We are pleased to announce that the 2023 Maple Armor Scholarship has been awarded to Ming Gao. Ming is an enthusiastic student whose academic performance and commitment to the program caught the eye of the Seneca faculty panel that reviews candidates each year. We have every confidence that he will go on to a successful career in fire protection, and we look forward to following his work in the industry.
The scholarship has been awarded each year since 2020, and every recipient has been selected on merit through the college's own nomination and review process. Maple Armor is proud to be associated with the program and to help these students take the next step in their careers.
Supporting Education Beyond the Scholarship
Our involvement with Seneca extends beyond the annual award. Team members from Maple Armor have participated in the college's Fire Protection keynote events and industry days, sharing perspective from the manufacturer's side of the business with students and faculty. We believe educational partnerships like this one are among the best investments a manufacturer can make in the long-term health of the industry.
Congratulations again to Ming and to all of Seneca's fire protection students. Your dedication keeps our industry strong, and the teams protecting lives across Canada and beyond are better because of the work you are doing right now in the classroom and in the lab.
